💨 Abstract
The UK government is migrating legacy benefit claimants to Universal Credit through a process called "managed migration." Begun in July 2022, claimants of five legacy benefits receive notices to transition within three months to avoid benefit loss. Approximately 400,000 ESA claimants are urged to switch, with the deadline expedited to March 2026. Around 381,000 individuals have lost benefits for not transitioning.
