💨 Abstract
A former Arsenal player, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, 34, has been sentenced to four years in prison for attempting to smuggle £600,000 worth of cannabis into the UK. The drugs, weighing around 60kg, were seized at Stansted Airport after arriving from Bangkok. Emmanuel-Thomas was found to have played a significant role in the plot, using his influence as a footballer to recruit two women, offering them payment and a free holiday.
