💨 Abstract
A young female bear caused excitement and concern by wandering into the suburbs of Vilnius, Lithuania. Hunters and officials clashed over whether to shoot or relocate her. After animal rights group members raised concerns, and discussions circled, she returned to the forest. Despite initial orders to shoot the bear, efforts were made towards relocating the species as they are protected under local and EU laws. Lithuania has a small, vulnerable bear population, with estimates ranging from 5 to 10 individuals.
