💨 Abstract
On July 30, 2025, President Donald Trump criticized Sen. Josh Hawley for his bipartisan proposal to ban stock trading by members of Congress, the president, and vice president. Hawley's bill, co-sponsored by Sen. Gary Peters, passed a committee vote despite Trump's objections. The legislation, called the Honest Act, aims to prevent elected officials from profiting from insider information.
