💨 Abstract

A federal judge in San Francisco extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 60,000 people from Central America and Asia, including Nepal, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, had decided to end the TPS, arguing that conditions in their home countries had improved. TPS allows individuals to live and work legally in the U.S. without fear of deportation.
