💹 Abstract

Following incidents of teen violence and property damage, the D.C. Council approved a proposal to impose a citywide curfew starting at 11 p.m. for the summer. The curfew previously started at midnight. The new legislation includes 17-year-olds and gives the mayor the power to impose earlier curfews in high-risk areas. Key changes involve defining large group sizes and reducing the duration of emergency curfew zones.
