💨 Abstract
The D.C. Council has allocated funding for ranked choice voting (RCV) in the 2026 budget. This method, approved by voters, enables residents to rank candidates. Amendments by Council members Brianne Nadeau and Christina Henderson led to the inclusion, though it was not initially part of Mayor Bowser’s or Council Chair Mendelson’s budgets. Ward 1 Council member Brianne Nadeau asserted that it provides voters more choice.
