💨 Abstract
Drivers in the D.C. region now face the longest commutes and most traffic congestion in the U.S., averaging 33.4 minutes per commute and 6 hours and 35 minutes in traffic daily. This surpasses Los Angeles, which has more daily congestion but shorter commutes. The return to work post-pandemic is exacerbating the issue. While D.C. has fewer fatal crashes than Los Angeles, the number has increased.
