💨 Abstract
The rare corpse flower, scientifically known as Amorphophallus titanum, is blooming at the United States Botanic Garden in D.C. Known for its strong, unpleasant odor reminiscent of rotten garbage and decaying animals, the flower attracts pollinators by mimicking a dead carcass. The bloom and its strong smell are brief, lasting only a few days. The corpse flower will close up soon, and the pungent aroma will fade.
