💨 Abstract
The Washington Metrorail Safety Commission reported a significant reduction in station overruns during the initial 10 days of automated train operations on the Green and Yellow Lines compared to the Red Line. With 25 overruns on the Green and Yellow Lines versus 40 on the Red Line, the decrease is attributed to better management of human error. The commission is cautiously considering expanding automated operations system-wide, pending further safety evaluations.
