💨 Abstract
Under staffing and new policies have hampered the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights, which is resolving fewer civil rights cases despite an increase in complaints. As the department faces mass layoffs and potential dismantling, parents and advocates report delays and lack of responses, leaving students' discrimination claims unresolved. The office has essentially become dysfunctional according to a federal judge.
