💨 Abstract
Large areas of the U.S. and parts of Europe face hazardous air quality due to smoke plum plumes in 2025. Regions such as the Midwest, Northeast, and Great Lakes are experiencing “very unhealthy” air, as indicated by the EPA's Air Quality Index (AQI). AQI levels around 160 were reported in the Upper Midwest.
