đź’¨ Abstract
For the first time, in May 2025, streaming services accounted for the largest share of TV viewership in the U.S., surpassing traditional broadcast and cable. Nielsen reported 44.8% of TV viewing came from streaming, while broadcast and cable combined had 44.2%. Experts predict a temporary shift back to traditional TV during major sports events but see streaming as the inevitable future.
