💨 Abstract

Thieves are increasingly targeting Chevy Camaros, particularly the ZL1 model, which is easy to steal with some technical know-how. Other commonly targeted vehicles include powerful and pricey pickup trucks. Hyundai and Kia thefts have decreased significantly due to software updates addressing a previously exploited flaw. Electric and hybrid vehicles are among the least stolen. Maryland is noted as a hotspot for car thefts, with the reasons behind this trend unclear.
