đź’¨ Abstract
In a close special election in Ocean City, Maryland, a proposed ordinance to restrict short-term rentals was narrowly defeated. The ordinance, aimed at addressing noise and trash issues, would have mandated a minimum five-night stay, increasing to 31 nights by 2027. With 834 votes against and 800 in favor, the ordinance failed, much to the relief of Terry Miller from OCMD Property Rights, an opponent of the changes.
