💨 Abstract
D.C.'s official dinosaur, "Capitalsaurus," was discovered in a construction project near the Anacostia River in 1898. It has since intrigued paleontologists. Today, Matt Kaufax of "Matt About Town" revisits this historical dig through unique access to SMITHSONIAN's rare Capitalsaurus vertebra fossil. If you have a story idea about an underappreciated or overlooked D.C. phenomenon, contact him.
