đź’¨ Abstract
Maryland's Supreme Court has ordered a new trial for Sergey Danshin, who was convicted of murdering Javier Gonzalez-Mena at a Rockville hotel in 2022. The court ruled that jurors should have considered if Danshin acted in defense of Gonzalez-Mena's girlfriend, Christina Jones, whom prosecutors argued was in a volatile relationship with Gonzalez-Mena. During his trial, Danshin described seeing Gonzalez-Mena chasing Jones with a machete.
