💨 Abstract
A German court is set to rule on a key climate lawsuit filed by a Peruvian farmer against energy company RWE. The farmer, Saúl Luciano Lliuya, argues that RWE's greenhouse gas emissions have caused glaciers in his hometown of Huaraz to melt, increasing the risk of flooding. RWE disputes the claims, stating that climate change is a global issue. This case, among others, seeks to hold major polluters accountable for climate impacts and could set legal precedents.
