On May 31, 2025, Johann Strauss' "Blue Danube" will be beamed into space to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth and the 50th anniversary of the European Space Agency (ESA). The Vienna Symphony Orchestra's performance will be livestreamed in Vienna, Madrid, and New York, and the pre-recorded music will travel at the speed of light, passing the moon in 1 ½ seconds.
