On June 20, 2025, air traffic controllers in Florida briefly lost radar due to a cut fiber optic line, but backup systems prevented major disruptions. The Jacksonville radar center operated on alert status while a contractor repaired the line. Unlike previous incidents in Philadelphia that caused significant issues at Newark Airport, this outage had no critical impact on air traffic service. The Jacksonville center manages airspace across five southeastern states.
