An insurance firm is ordered to pay $44M in a lawsuit filed by a man freed from prison in Missouri -
💨 Abstract
A Missouri judge ordered Minnesota-based St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Co. to pay nearly $44 million to Ryan Ferguson, who was wrongfully convicted of murder. Ferguson, released in 2013, sued in 2017 after the city's insurer delayed paying the full $11 million lawsuit winnings. The judge's order includes punitive damages and interest, with Ferguson and the involved officers set to split about $5 million. The insurer can appeal.
