💨 Abstract
While reporting on protests in Los Angeles, Australian journalist Lauren Tomasi was accidentally hit by a nonlethal round fired by an officer. Tomasi, despite not wearing protective gear, was unharmed but some protesters were severely trounced. Tensions had escalated over President Trump's immigration policies and the deployment of National Guard troops. Demonstrations initially started small but grew to thousands, causing significant disruptions.
