💨 Abstract
In 2025 Pat Williams, the longest-serving congressman in Montana, passed away at 87 after a remarkable political career. First joining the U.S. House in 1978, Williams became known for his liberal views and labor advocacy. His notable win in 1992 made him the sole representative for Montana and remains a classic example of the West’s political battles over land and resources.
