💨 Abstract
A federal judge in Boston has blocked the Trump administration's attempt to limit the National Science Foundation's research funding to universities. The judge ruled that the policy change, which would have capped "indirect" costs at 15% of direct research funding, was arbitrary and illegal. The move was challenged by universities, including the University of California, which argued it would severely impact critical research in technology fields. This ruling follows similar blocks on funding caps by the Energy Department and the National Institutes of Health.
