💨 Abstract
After over 3 months in detention, Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil was released and greeted by supporters. A former Columbia University student, Khalil was held for protesting Israel's actions in Gaza. He vowed to continue his activism despite threats. Khalil, a legal U.S. resident, was released by order of a federal judge, though the government plans to appeal. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez condemned his detention as a violation of the First Amendment.
