💨 Abstract
Heavy rains caused a mudslide and subsequent flooding on a rural interstate in southern West Virginia, stranding thousands of motorists for over eight hours overnight. Traffic was blocked for 12 miles, and drivers had no information or assistance, leading to desperate calls for help on social media. Despite the challenges, no injuries were reported. The Parkways Authority acknowledged its failure to detour traffic and vowed not to repeat the incident while carrying out an investigation.
