💨 Abstract
A Los Angeles sheriff's deputy, Trevor Kirk, was sentenced to four months in prison after a plea deal reduced his felony conviction for excessive force to a misdemeanor. Kirk was caught on video tackling and pepper-spraying an older woman in 2023. Despite a jury's guilty verdict, a new Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney offered the plea deal, citing lower-end excessive force.
