💨 Abstract

Scientists have determined that rocks from the Nuvvuagittuq Greenstone Belt in Canada are approximately 4.16 billion years old. This age was confirmed using two dating methods, resolving a longstanding debate. Earth's oldest rocks are rare due to tectonic activity. The Nuvvuagittuq rocks, if confirmed as the oldest, could provide insights into Earth's early conditions and the origins of life.
