💨 Abstract

Astronomers have observed the earliest stages of rocky planet formation around a young sun-like star, HOPS-315, providing insights into the birth of our solar system. Using NASA’s Webb Space Telescope and the European Southern Observatory, a team detected solid specks condensing in the gas disk around the star, including silicon monoxide and crystalline silicates. This discovery suggests that the initial steps of planet formation are happening universally.
