💨 Abstract
In Texas's Hill Country, a flash flood on Friday killed at least 13 and left 22 missing. Flash floods, which develop quickly after heavy rainfall, are the nation's top storm-related killers. The event highlighted the dangers of driving through flooded areas, as nearly half of flood-related fatalities involve vehicles. The National Weather Service had issued warnings, but the rapid rise of waters caught many off guard.
