💨 Abstract
The U.S. Treasury is trying to recover COVID-19 relief funds from about 235 local governments that received funds but did not report how they used the money. Out of $350 billion distributed under the American Rescue Plan in 2021, approximately $139 million is questioned from these non-compliant governments. Initially, over 1,000 governments did not file required reports, but many complied after receiving notices.
