💨 Abstract
Wisconsin elections officials found that Madison's former city clerk violated several election laws by failing to count nearly 200 absentee ballots in the 2024 presidential election. The bipartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission voted to accept the report, but did not recommend criminal charges. The clerk's office lacked proper tracking and leadership, leading to the oversight. The clerk resigned in April, and Madison has since implemented safeguards. Four voters whose ballots were not counted have filed claims for damages.
