💨 Abstract
On August 14, 2025, the building at 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan was evacuated after a suspicious white powder was found on the ninth floor. The FDNY dispatched a hazmat unit to investigate. The building houses several federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Mayor Eric Adams reassured the public that there were no known injuries. The building has been a site of protests and legal actions regarding immigrant detention conditions.
