💨 Abstract

Veterans Affairs hospitals have reported a 50% increase in severe staffing shortages for key jobs, including doctors, nurses, and psychologists. Despite the VA's claim that actual vacancies are within historical averages, Democratic lawmakers and labor unions warn that veterans may face delays and reduced access to care. The VA has also terminated collective bargaining agreements, which might further hinder recruitment. The administration argues these steps will improve efficiency and services.
