💨 Abstract
Russian-U.S. presidential meetings have varied in frequency and tone due to shifting geopolitical tensions. Putin and Biden met once in 2021 and had limited subsequent contact amid rising tensions over Ukraine. Putin met Trump six times, notably siding with Putin on election interference. Obama and Putin/Medvedev had numerous meetings, including attempts at a "reset," but relations soured after 2012, especially post-Crimea annexation.
