đź’¨ Abstract
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has increased security measures following a federal threat to withhold $50 million in funding. The CTA has boosted police presence by 56% and K-9 units by 10% after a letter from the Federal Transit Administration demanded a more aggressive crime-cutting plan. This comes after a violent incident on a city L train in November. The CTA has 90 days to comply with federal demands or risk losing funding.
