đź’¨ Abstract
In April 2025, a fire in Suriname's capital, Paramaribo, threatened historic buildings, including the Neveh Shalom Synagogue. Volunteers rushed to digitize 100,000 archival documents, preserving the history of Suriname's Jewish community since the 1700s. Led by Dutch academic Rosa de Jong, the project safeguarded records from climate and time threats, resulting in over 600 gigabytes of data.
