💨 Abstract
A federal judge in Massachusetts ruled that the Trump administration violated a court order by attempting to deport eight immigrants to war-torn South Sudan without proper notice or an opportunity to contest. Judge Brian Murphy cited the short 17-hour notice and off-hours process that prevented detainees from contacting lawyers or family. The judge has indicated a potential contempt of court charge and is considering a new 24-hour notice requirement for future deportations.
