💨 Abstract

Martha Aron and her sister Barbara faced challenges caring for their aging parents from a distance. As their parents aged, they required more assistance, leading Martha and Barbara to hire around-the-clock health aides and coordinate care from Maryland and New York. They managed appointments, medications, and home safety, while also dealing with emotional strain. Their experience highlights the difficulties and strategies for long-distance caregiving, which affects millions of families in the U.S.
