💨 Abstract
The recent shooting of Miguel Uribe Turbay during a campaign event in Bogotá evoked memories of past political assassinations in Colombia. A notable parallel was drawn with the 1989 killing of Luis Carlos Galán. Uribe's mother, journalist Diana Turbay, was also a victim of narcotraffickers. The Colombian public remembers frequent violent attacks on political leaders, notably Rafael Uribe Uribe in 1914.
