💨 Abstract

In June 2025, former President Donald Trump proposed reducing national holidays, claiming they cost the U.S. billions in lost productivity. He argued that workers don't want these days off and that too many holidays hinder national productivity. However, studies show that while holidays temporarily reduce productivity, they boost long-term worker morale and productivity. Essential services and retail sectors often see increased activity during holidays. Small businesses also benefit from holiday sales.
