💨 Abstract
The Port of Barcelona will close two cruise terminals to combat overtourism, reducing operational terminals to five from next year. The move, part of an agreement with the city council, also funds a study on cruise passenger movements to develop a sustainable mobility plan and modernize port infrastructure for greener operations, like providing onshore power to ships. The 185 million euro investment is part of a broader initiative to address tourism-related issues, including housing affordability.
