💨 Abstract
On July 1, 2025, the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly voted (99-1) to strike down a proposal that would have temporarily barred states from regulating artificial intelligence (AI). The proposal, initially a 10-year ban, was later modified to link state compliance with federal funding for broadband and AI infrastructure.
