💨 Abstract

A tsunami alert has been issued for the south and peninsula of Alaska, affecting coastal areas from Kennedy Entrance to Unimak Pass. Initially forecast at 1:30 p.m. AKDT in Sand Point, the waves could impact Kodiak around 2:40 p.m. AKDT. This is a localized event and does not risk a basin-wide tsunami. The alert is being monitored by the National Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer, Alaska.
