💨 Abstract
Florida is readying a second detention center for immigrants, with up to 1,300 detainees expected at the Institución Correccional Baker near Jacksonville. Governor Ron DeSantis announced that the facility, dubbed "Deportation Depot," will process and deport immigrants quickly. The first center, "Alligator Alcatraz," opened over a month ago in the Everglades. DeSantis emphasized that the new center will not indefinitely hold immigrants.
