💨 Abstract
A federal judge denied the Trump administration's request to declassify Ghislaine Maxwell's grand jury material. Judge Paul Engelmayer ruled that revealing the material is not of public or historical interest. Much of the requested material is already public from Maxwell's 2021 trial. The judge suggested the government's request was more about distraction than transparency. Additionally, the Department of Justice asked judges to postpone decisions on sealing grand jury materials until August 14 to notify victims.
