💨 Abstract

On December 19, 2025, the U.S. launched Operation Hawkeye, targeting ISIS-linked sites in Syria in response to a recent attack that killed two American soldiers and a civilian interpreter. The operation, involving U.S. allies like Jordan, aimed to weaken ISIS remnants and reduce threats to U.S. forces. The deceased soldiers, identified as Sergeant Edgar Brian Torres Tovar and Sergeant William Nathaniel Howard, were part of the Iowa National Guard.
