In Prince William County, Virginia, police fatally shot a 52-year-old man on July 17, 2025, after he threatened strangers and officers. The incident began with unprovoked threats involving a gun and culminated when the man, armed with a crossbow, ran toward the Potomac Mills mall. Police attempted negotiations but shot the man as he neared the mall's entrance, approximately 20 yards from Nordstrom Rack.
