The Portland Timbers defeated St. Louis City 2-1 on Sunday. David Ayala scored the winning goal in stoppage time. Earlier, Akil Watts put St. Louis ahead in the 50th minute, but Antony equalized shortly after. Despite St. Louis having more shots on goal, Portland's goalkeeper James Pantemis made seven saves. The match was St. Louis's second under new coach David Critchley.
