Bryan Woo of the Seattle Mariners set a new season-opening franchise record with his 23rd consecutive start pitching at least six innings, tying an MLB record for allowing two walks or fewer in the same streak. The 25-year-old right-hander also matched his career high of nine strikeouts. Woo's performance extended his active streak of 45 consecutive starts with two walks or fewer, the longest in the majors.
